Konecranes Gottwald Mobile Harbor Cranes at Terminal di Venezia
Customer story

Expanding the logistics chain sustainably with a flexible solution

Magli Intermodal Service Srl (Magli) is a leading provider of logistics solutions for the steel industry. Beyond its home market of Italy, the family-owned company, founded in 1980, is also active in other European markets. Magli started with an intermodal terminal near its headquarters in Brescia in northern Italy, followed a few years later by another one close to Ancona in central Italy. At the beginning of 2022, a real quantum leap in the company’s development took place: it became a shareholder of Terminal di Venezia in Marghera, the port of Venice, to expand their activities to the port environment, underlining their outside-the-box thinking. At its new location, Magli has relied on proven mobile harbor crane technology from Konecranes from the beginning. In addition to an eco-efficient G HMK 6507 B crane, a used HMK 330 EG crane is also in operation there.

Pushing ahead with maritime activities

For Magli, the presence in Marghera is part of a long-term strategy. The port is located opposite Venice on the mainland and has developed into a logistics hub for the entire region over the past decades. Over the same period, Magli has gradually expanded its activities and is now consistently pushing ahead with its ambitions in the maritime sector, with Marghera as a sustainable pillar.

Complementary and flexible crane duo

To reach its own goals and those of its customers, Magli has opted for two Konecranes Gottwald mobile harbor cranes. The G HMK 6507 B forms the state-of-the-art handling backbone of the new terminal, while the HMK 330 EG formerly operated in Spain is used as a complementary crane whenever the situation requires it. Together, the two cranes in Marghera form a complementary duo providing performance and reliability, and underline Konecranes’ ability to provide customers with the right solution mix to meet their needs.
