The fastest journey to zero tailpipe emissions

MODULAR POWER

With the updated Konecranes Noell Straddle Carrier and Sprinter Carrier, you have a modular choice of power options. As of 11th June 2024, you get three power options that take you to zero tailpipe emissions: hybrid, battery and hydrogen. With built-in readiness for future power sources. Each option is retrofittable and interchangeable, with a minimum of downtime. You have complete power flexibility. Whichever power option you select, you can always retrofit or convert it in the future. Meanwhile, you get a big package of technical improvements.

Hybrid power option

Hybrid

Built on the design of tried-and-true diesel-electric straddle carrier with a downsized genset our innovative design integrates a regenerative power system with a highly efficient diesel engine, resulting in significant fuel savings. With Konecranes Noell Hybrid Straddle Carrier, you can cut emissions by up to 40%.

Battery power option

Battery

High-capacity battery modules for maximum continuous operating time. Battery gives the freedom of diesel-powered operation without the CO2 and noise emissions. Charging strategy will depend on your work cycles and work shift arrangements. Our charging approach is “out of operation” charging, designed to keep the machines at peak work capacity when they do the hardest part of their work.

Hydrogen power option

Hydrogen

Hydrogen is emerging as an alternative fuel for straddle carriers. It offers several important advantages, positioning it as a next-generation power source on the road to zero tailpipe emissions. Hydrogen fuel cells produce electricity through a chemical reaction between hydrogen and oxygen, with water vapor as the only byproduct. Hydrogen-driven straddle carriers are locally emission-free. Large industries around the world are gearing up for hydrogen, and Konecranes is deeply involved as the most innovative OEM of container handling equipment.
