Konecranes is developing data platform that gathers data in one place. It enables fast and agile delivery of right data at right time for the purpose, and for example to load data to customer portals YourKONECRANES and TRUCONNECT near real-time and improves the possibilities for data science. This supports both our customers and our businesses in making correct and timely decisions.

Several multi-disciplinary teams work on the platform. One team takes care of the platform itself and the Agile development teams produce solutions utilizing the platform. People from different background and roles work on the development: Data Specialists, Solution Designers, Configuration Owners and Concept Owners, among others.

Providing customers a visual and easy way to purchase spare parts

A joint effort of Global Port Services Parts organization and different agile development teams within Konecranes Information Technology, eCatalog upgrade, was developed for the Finnish customers to be able to buy spare parts to their RTG cranes in an easy and visual way. The product was developed within three months and is scalable to be used for other Konecranes products and countries in the future. The eCatalog populates data to the webshop interface from different, global systems. These global systems as well as common processes and data are the backbone and enablers of our digital services. As the eCatalog consists of a set of different technologies dependent from each other, several different teams across the organization participated to the project. As Konecranes IT utilizes agile methodologies, we were able to implement the first version of the product fast. All the teams are able to communicate and collaborate tightly and things proceed smoothly.
