Konecranes helps AEP Central Machine Shop identify and correct critical safety issue

AEP headquarters in Columbus, Ohio, recommended that AEP Central Machine Shop schedule an intensive, internal gear case inspection on their cranes. This inspection would confirm if any internal damage, due to cumulative fatigue, had occurred on their cranes.

Internal inspections

After reviewing alternatives, AEP Central Machine Shop chose us to perform the inspections, based on a number of criteria including cost, availability, safety record and reputation. Konecranes technicians used dye penetrant testing on the internal components and uncovered a cracked gear on their 200-ton crane. AEP is especially proud of its strong safety culture. We were able to help AEP identify and correct a critical safety issue and reduce the risk of future mechanical failure.
