KCI Konecranes has been awarded one of the largest special crane orders by General Motors Corporation for their fast track contiguous Modernization Program of Assembly Plants in the United States and Canada. Total order value is around USD 8 million. Delivery will begin in December 2000 and be completed during the third quarter of 2001.
Konecranes America Inc. will supply fifteen Stamping Plant Process Cranes to General Motors (GM). The cranes will serve in four locations in the US and one in Oshawa, Canada.
Owing its reputation to customers who have remained loyal over the years KCI Konecranes' best measure for its success is repeat customers. This order is the second major project for KCI Konecranes in General Motors' Contiguous program in North America. In 1996 five similar cranes were delivered to GM's plants in USA. In the past KCI Konecranes has also provided GM with a number of cranes and modernisations to their plants in Canada and Mexico.
The crane capacities range from 65 to 80 tons. The cranes will be fully equipped with all modern features, such as Sway Prevention and are operated through radio controls. KCI Konecranes own AC Frequency Control System provides the most modern and reliable drive for the stamping plant cranes, significantly reducing the maintenance costs of the cranes.
