Konecranes receives fourth straight Gold rating from EcoVadis for sustainability efforts, showing a clearly improved overall score

Trade press releases
  • Company ranked in the top 2% of all rated companies globally, and in the top 1% of general-purpose machinery peers

Konecranes’ rigorous sustainability work has been rewarded with a Gold rating from EcoVadis for the fourth straight year. Its overall score in one of the world’s leading business sustainability assessments improved versus a year ago, putting it in the top 2% of all companies globally and the top 1% versus industry peers.

Konecranes improved especially in the areas of ethics and sustainable procurement, proof that the measured and methodical execution of its sustainability agenda is paying off. EcoVadis’ evidence-based assessment covers a broad range of non-financial management system impacts and sustainability performance including environmental, labor and human rights, ethics as well as sustainable procurement.

“Our excellent and improving overall score shows advanced-level performance in all four assessed areas and confirms Konecranes’ steady progress in delivering on its sustainability policies and commitments. This also gives us a clear business advantage given that our customers turn to EcoVadis when evaluating and selecting their equipment and service partners,” said Anniina Virta-Toikka, Vice President, Sustainability at Konecranes.

Konecranes has distilled the material aspects of its operations into four commitments for sustainability: we enable a decarbonized and circular world; we deliver safe and secure material handling solutions; we create a fair, inclusive, diverse and engaging working environment; and we expect the highest ethical standards of ourselves and our business partners. The company has set ambitious targets for all four areas, and regularly monitors and reports its progress towards meeting those commitments.

A strong focus on customers and commitment to business growth and continuous improvement make Konecranes a material handling industry leader. This is underpinned by investments in digitalization and technology, plus our work to make material flows more efficient with solutions that decarbonize the economy and advance circularity and safety.
