The Maritime Association of South Carolina (MASC) has presented Konecranes with the Environmental Stewardship Award for 2022. The award recognizes Konecranes' leading role in providing technology and services that assist in achieving global climate targets.
The MASC is a trade association that connects people and organizations who are involved in maritime commerce in South Carolina, and it supports their members in relevant issues. The Environmental Stewardship Award honors those who have given extra service to the local maritime community and acknowledges the development of activities related to environmental stewardship. This includes the development of training, safety, and environmental awareness.
The recognition was handed to Konecranes on February 4th at the MASC annual meeting and gala event. Previous recipients of the award include Great Lakes Dredge & Dock, Carnival Corporation, and Maersk Line.
"In 2021, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) approved our RTG hybrid technology, which we will use to retrofit existing RTGs that will start operating in South Carolina Ports later this year.", says Scott Lane, Vice President, Port Services, Region Americas, who accepted the award on behalf of Konecranes. "Konecranes recently launched new climate targets, continuing efforts as a company to cut emissions and further develop the low-carbon product and services portfolio. We are honored to be recognized by this prestigious industry award.”
Konecranes' environmental and sustainability efforts are grouped under Ecolifting™, Konecranes’ vision to increase its handprint – meaning the beneficial environmental impact that can be achieved with our product and service portfolio – while reducing customers’ carbon footprints. From eco-optimizing diesel drives, to hybridization and fully-electrified fleets, we will continue to do more with less.
A strong focus on customers and commitment to business growth and continuous improvement make Konecranes a lifting industry leader. This is underpinned by investments in digitalization and technology, plus our work to make material flows more efficient with solutions that decarbonize the economy and advance circularity and safety.
