Nichols Aluminum - Konecranes wins inspection face-off

Nichols Aluminum is an industry-leading manufacturer of engineered materials and components for building products sold to original equipment manufacturers.

One-shot deal

For years, Nichols Aluminum had its overhead crane repairs performed by another crane service company. One day, John Lyons, a sales representative for Konecranes, met with the Nichols Aluminum safety manager to discuss having a Konecranes MAINMAN® preventive maintenance inspection on the company’s overhead lifting equipment.

The two came to an agreement: Konecranes could do a one-time inspection on all 15 of Nichols Aluminum’s overhead cranes. Then, the MAINMAN inspections would be compared to the inspections they were currently receiving.

The inspections were performed and Konecranes went over the inspection results with plant management. A few days later, Nichols Aluminum management told Konecranes that the other service provider's inspection did not comply with OSHA standards, so they would no longer be working with them. The plant’s safety and management team agreed that Konecranes MAINMAN inspections meet and exceeded OSHA standards. Konecranes then started to perform all of their monthly inspections and repairs.
