Konecranes keeps EcoVadis Gold rating

EcoVadis Gold rating

EcoVadis is an international sustainability rating agency assessing the performance of supplier companies based on customers’ requests. ​ An increasing number of customers access Konecranes´ assessment in the EcoVadis portal. 

Anniina Virta-Toikka, Head of Sustainability highlights the customers in the process. “We are fully committed to sustainability and to advance our approach. We are supporting our customers in their sustainability work and want to ensure our way of working.” 

EcoVadis acknowledged that Konecranes’ overall sustainability performance is on an advanced level in activities related to environment, labor and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement.

Actions taken to improve the level of sustainability 

Konecranes received Gold-level for a first time back in 2021. The medal color stayed the same in an even more competitive environment, as during the year Konecranes took several actions listed as new strengths by EcoVadis in their detailed analysis.  

Since the 2021 survey,  

• we validated our science-based climate targets, limiting global warming to 1.5°C,  
• we published a Responsible Minerals Statement and combined forces with other companies by joining the Responsible Minerals Initiative,  
• we opened our whistleblower channels for third parties.  
• We also restarted social responsibility assessments in our own operations, and 
• established four Employee Resource Groups to support our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion program.  
• EcoVadis recognized with positive marks also the high coverage of different sustainability related trainings, such as Competition Compliance eLearning and reporting of new Key Performance Indicators, such as percentage of audited suppliers engaged in corrective actions.

Our five sustainability cornerstones work well towards EcoVadis rating

The execution of our sustainability strategy helps us to further improve our EcoVadis rating and we can also take development points out from the feedback we get from the rating.
