In 2023, terminal operator Eurogate integrated the Konecranes Spare Parts API into their company purchasing system. This free software has made spare parts ordering much easier for their extensive fleet of ports equipment.
Headquartered in Bremen, Germany, Eurogate is a major terminal operator, with terminals in some of the busiest ports in five countries across Europe and North Africa. With hundreds of machines throughout their operations, maintenance is a huge task, and they have a constant demand for spare parts. They need highly efficient spare parts ordering to speed up the maintenance process, ensure the continuous reliability and safety of their equipment and minimize downtime.
Eurogate had already been ordering parts through their account at the Konecranes STORE. With the Konecranes Spare Parts Application Programming Interface (API), Eurogate now has easy access to ordering from the STORE through their own company systems. Instead of visiting a separate website, the procurement of Konecranes parts is fully integrated into the Eurogate enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.
Technology that really makes a difference
The Konecranes STORE has long been the best way to shop for ports equipment parts. It gives users access to full product details and equipment manuals, and because it’s online, it includes the most up-to-date availability and pricing information. Intuitive search and order tracking functions make it easy to use. A comprehensive resource for port operators, it offers spare parts and accessories for both Konecranes equipment and other brands of cranes and hoists.
Now Konecranes can bring the STORE directly to customers in the Spare Parts API. Free to all ports equipment operators with an account in the STORE, it uses the spare parts lists in each customer’s own ERP system at any facility they choose across their entire operation.
“The Konecranes STORE is an excellent tool, but the Spare Parts API takes it to the next level,” says Sampsa Oja, Digital Services Product Manager, Konecranes. “It’s easy to use, and this can be fully integrated into customers’ system, and then we fine tune it to customer’s needs. With all the correct spare parts data in one place, every maintenance process from planning to budgeting to ordering and even paying is very easy. Convenience in daily tasks can really help to streamline operations.”
Because it’s tailored to the local ERP, the Konecranes Spare Parts API has provided Eurogate personnel with a seamless shopping experience, so an order for Konecranes spare parts looks like any other order on their system. They can automate some orders to ensure that essential parts are always available on-site when needed. The most recently available spare parts are listed so they know about the latest upgrades. Delivery costs are lowered with company-wide bulk orders, reducing the number of shipments required.
Long-term benefits with no cost
“Our Spare Parts API is just one of a suite of APIs we’ve developed in-house to make equipment ownership and lifecycle management simpler and smarter,” says Peter Kania, Sales Director, Port Solutions, Konecranes. “By upgrading their procurement processes with the Spare Parts API, Eurogate has shown a strong commitment to digital solutions that promote efficiency and sustainability in their operations. And because it’s free, it only offers extra value to any customer that uses it.”
