Konecranes supplies automated industrial cranes to chemical products producer in China

Corporate press releases

In August 2013, Konecranes received an order for four 10-ton automated industrial cranes from Qinghai Salt Lake in Golmud City, China. This is Konecranes’ second delivery to Qinghai Salt Lake; the previous delivery included six heavy duty cranes, which were delivered in 2012. The recently ordered cranes will be delivered by June 2014. The order has been booked into Konecranes’ third quarter 2013 order intake.

Qinghai Salt Lake Industry Co., Ltd. is located approximately 4,000 km North West of Shanghai, at an elevation of 3,000 meters above sea level. The company develops, manufactures, and markets chemical products like methanol, magnesium metal and calcium carbide (chemical salt).

Qinghai Salt Lake’s facility includes new production technology and the process is highly automated. Therefore the Konecranes cranes will also be highly advanced and fully automated. Safety requirements are very strict. The cranes will be used for lifting the mould holding hot liquid calcium carbide.

“Automation is a growing trend also in the chemical industry,” says Eric Chen, Head of Industrial Crane Solutions, Konecranes region APAC. “Konecranes’ highly advanced and automated cranes suit perfectly into this type of processes where safety and productivity are of utmost importance.”
