Konecranes is further expanding its Machine Tool Service (MTS) business in the UK through the acquisition of the assets of Machine Control Engineers Limited. Machine Control Engineers Limited is based in Coatbridge, Scotland, and employs 26 persons. The annual net sales of the company in 2009 were approximately EUR 3 million. The value of the acquisition is not disclosed.
KRG Industries Ltd, an independent contract manufacturing company in the UK, is the previous owner of Machine Control Engineers Limited. The company has mainly served external MTS customers, but also KRG Industries’ own factories.
“We are proud to get Machine Control Engineers Limited personnel to further strengthen our capabilities in UK” says Mr Nigel Clegg, Business Unit Manager, Konecranes MTS UK. “The company specializes in maintenance services of machine tools in the engineering industry in Scotland and in Northern England. Their competency covers both mechanical and electrical maintenance and control systems. Machine Control Engineers Limited’s sales are based on long-term customer relationships with suggested annual preventive maintenance tasks and on-call work of customer machine tools”.
Machine Control Engineers Limited will be consolidated in Konecranes’ financial statements as of end of September, 2010. The company will be part of the present MTS operations in the UK and will move to Konecranes MTS premises in East Kilbride.
Konecranes now has MTS offices in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Estonia, Ukraine, the UK and the US.
