In mid-March 2010 Konecranes celebrated the production of the 3,000th machine at its factory in Markaryd, Sweden, where Konecranes manufactures lift trucks, forklift trucks and reach stackers. The 3000th machine is a reach stacker for container transportation company Van der Most in the Netherlands.
“This is a major milestone for Konecranes’ Lifttruck business,” says Lars Fredin, head of the global Lifttruck business at Konecranes. “We are proud of the skill and workmanship that goes into every machine we make. This lays the foundation for our next goal: the production and delivery of another 3,000 machines.”
This Konecranes reach stacker features Konecranes’ Eco-Drive system, which calculates the fuel consumption, running hours and efficiency of the machine. The machine is also equipped with Konecranes’ Load Sensing Hydraulic System, which senses the load weight and the required lifting speed so the machine uses only the power needed. The load sensing feature lessens the wear of the hydraulics, reduces the energy required from the engine and results in higher handling speeds. The reach stacker can lift containers weighing up to 45 tons five high in the first row and up to 31 tons in the second row.
