Konecranes supplies cranes for energy sector

Konecranes received three significant orders from the energy sector in July-August 2006. One coker crane will be supplied to the Tesoro Corporation’s Golden Eagle Refinery in Martinez, California, one coker crane to BP Oil Castellón Refinery in Spain and two turbine cranes and two maintenance cranes to Siemens AG in Germany. The total value of the three orders is approximately 6.5 MEUR. The cranes will be delivered by autumn 2007.

BP Oil Castellón Refinery in Spain has ordered one 17-ton coker crane for their oil refinery in Castellón de la Plana, Spain. The success of the coker crane is measured by the reliability and low maintenance. The crane, which spans 33 meters, will be supplied as part of the Castellon Delayed Coker Project. This is the first delivery of a Konecranes coker crane in Europe.

Tesoro Corporation, selected Konecranes for the delivery of one coker crane for the delayed coking process at the Golden Eagle Refinery in Martinez, California. The crane has a 44-ton lifting capacity, spans 43 meters and features a number of load control technologies developed by Konecranes. The specifications for the crane have been developed by ConocoPhillips. The crane will be manufactured in Konecranes’ Houston, Texas plant.

The Power Generation Group of Siemens AG turned to Konecranes for the supply of two turbine house cranes. The cranes are rated for a 250 ton duty, have a span of 32 meters and are equipped with a 25 ton auxiliary trolley. The contract also includes the delivery of two maintenance cranes. The cranes will be installed at the company’s new combined cycle power plant in Irsching, Germany. The order is part of a greater investment, which will make Irsching the home of the world’s largest and highest-output gas turbine.
