Konecranes has achieved the internationally recognized Cyber Essentials Plus certification for Konecranes Demag UK Ltd. The certification – the baseline standard for cyber security in the UK – covers Konecranes’ sites in the UK.
Cyber Essentials is a UK government-backed certification scheme that helps protect company and customer assets against cyber threats and assures customers about the robustness of a company’s cybersecurity practices. It’s also a mandatory requirement for companies working with certain UK government contract types, including the Ministry of Defence and other regulated industries.
Konecranes has had the Cyber Essentials certification since 2021. Now it is clear that the self-assessments and declarations are no longer sufficient, and customers expect and appreciate the audited and more demanding version, Cyber Essentials Plus certification. Achieving this certification marks the second major cybersecurity certification received by Konecranes in 2025 after the IEC 62443-4-1 certification for Port Solutions and Industrial Equipment secure product development processes, which was awarded in February.
“The Cyber Essentials Plus certification and framework enhances our security, strengthens relationships with existing customers, and gives us a competitive edge, unlocking valuable business opportunities,” says Paul de Lange, Konecranes’ Director of Industrial Service & Equipment in the UK & Ireland.
“To meet the security requirements, our IT team and UK business have been pioneering multiple processes and systems to increase automation, for instance in software updates. These practices we can leverage on a global scale,” says Marc Font, Director of IT Operations.
The certification was provided by external independent assessor IASME, the National Cyber Security Centre’s official delivery partner. The certification process included an independent technical audit for Konecranes’ IT systems.
