Konecranes is providing 14 cranes to Makino for its new manufacturing facility in Hung Yen province, near Hanoi, Vietnam. This investment supports Makino’s expansion in the region, enhancing its manufacturing capabilities for high-precision metal-cutting and EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) machines. The order, received in August 2024, is currently being installed and is expected to be completed by the end of April 2025.
The cranes are designed to enable efficient and safe material movement across Makino’s production lines, shipping area, showroom, staging zone, measurement area and ambient storerooms.
The order includes a range of cranes, including single and double girder cranes, wall console cranes, a wall-mounted slewing jib crane and a KBK workstation suspension crane. With capacities ranging from 500 kg to 15 tons and spans of up to 17.5 meters, these cranes are designed to meet the operational needs of the facility.
“Our experience working with Konecranes in other countries has shown that their extensive portfolio effectively meets the needs of all areas in our production flow,” said Nguyen Thanh Hoa, Country Manager at Makino, Vietnam.
“To increase flexibility and optimize workstation accessibility in Makino’s production area, we install wall console cranes that operate below overhead cranes on a horizontal track, improving workflow efficiency and enabling precise material movement within confined spaces,” said Mai Van Huy, Country Director, ISE, Konecranes.
A strong focus on customers, commitment to business growth, and continuous improvement make Konecranes a material handling industry leader. This is underpinned by investments in digitalization and technology, as well as efforts to make material flows more efficient with solutions that decarbonize the economy and advance circularity and safety.
